John Young - Owner & Founder : Monmouthshire GreenWorks was founded on a simple truth: the work you enjoy most is the work you do best. I grew up on a small holding, spending my youth outdoors — cutting grass, managing land, and learning the value of hard, honest, practical work. Later, I spent several years as a groundskeeper, and those days remain some of the most enjoyable of my life.
My career eventually took me into FMCG manufacturing, where I worked my way up to general manager within some of the UK’s most recognisable household brands. Those years shaped my professional standards: a commitment to reliability, consistency, and delivering an exceptional level of service every single day.
But I never lost my love of nature or the satisfaction of working outdoors. Eventually, I reached the point where I wanted to return to the work that mattered most to me — and to build a business that combined my passion for grounds care with the high performance mindset I developed in industry.
